Embark on an exclusive journey through the heart of Ancient Rome with a guided tour of the Colosseum and privileged access to the Arena Floor. This intimate tour, designed for small groups, offers an immersive visit that reveals the architectural grandeur, historical significance, and engineering marvels of this iconic site. The visit begins with an exclusive backdoor entrance onto the Arena Floor, where participants can step into the world of gladiatorial battles and picture life during the height of the Roman Empire. Following this, the itinerary leads guests through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, allowing them to explore these essential areas of Ancient Rome at their own pace after the guided segment.
With this ticket, visitors gain reserved entry to the Colosseum, bypassing the lengthy queues that often accompany a visit to this renowned attraction. The highlight is undoubtedly the exclusive access to the Arena Floor. This restricted area provides a view directly from where the gladiators once fought, offering an unparalleled perspective of the amphitheater’s grand architecture. Equipped with a headset, guests can comfortably hear the guide’s commentary, ensuring they don’t miss any detail about the history, construction, and unique facts surrounding this marvel of ancient engineering. After the guided tour of the Colosseum, the ticket also includes access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where visitors can immerse themselves further in the legacy of Ancient Rome by exploring the historic ruins and artifacts at their own pace.
This tour provides a more in-depth and focused exploration of the Colosseum than general admission tickets or audio-guided tours. Designed for history enthusiasts, architecture admirers, and those looking to experience the Colosseum with a unique perspective, this tour allows for a more personal and memorable visit with a maximum group size of 25, ensuring quality interaction with the guide. Unlike other tickets that may grant only partial access or require lengthy waits, this tour combines efficiency with exclusivity. The guided segment led by an archaeologist or an experienced historian enriches the experience with insights that would otherwise be missed. In comparison to tours that offer a mere overview of the Colosseum’s exterior, this tour’s access to the Arena Floor provides participants with a rare look from the very stage where gladiators once stood, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to connect more deeply with the historical atmosphere of this iconic monument.
The Colosseum, a masterpiece of ancient Roman architecture, stands in the heart of Rome and has endured as a symbol of imperial power for nearly 2,000 years. This iconic structure, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, was constructed in AD 72 and completed in AD 80, becoming the largest amphitheater in the world. The tour grants a rare opportunity to step into the Arena Floor, providing an intimate experience of this historical stage.
One of the most compelling sections of this tour is the Arena Floor. This privileged access area offers a perspective few visitors experience. The Arena Floor, where the gladiators once engaged in fierce combat, allows visitors to visualize the scene that ancient Romans witnessed from the surrounding stands. Standing here, one can appreciate the intricate design and engineering that allowed this vast amphitheater to host an array of spectacles, from grandiose gladiator battles to thrilling wild animal hunts. Every corner of the Arena reveals architectural elements that demonstrate the Colosseum’s enduring strength and the ingenuity behind its construction, particularly the innovative techniques used to create a retractable velarium that provided shade for spectators.
After exploring the Colosseum, the ticket includes entry to the Roman Forum, situated just a short walk away. This archaeological site was once the hub of Roman political, social, and commercial life. Visitors can wander through the ruins of what was once the center of governance, business, and religion in the ancient city. Key structures within the Forum include the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Titus, and the House of the Vestal Virgins. Standing amidst these historic ruins, it is easy to imagine the vibrancy of the space when it was bustling with orators, senators, and Roman citizens.
The Palatine Hill, another significant part of the tour, is steeped in legend and history. It is said to be the site where Rome’s founders, Romulus and Remus, were raised by a she-wolf. This hill, the most central of Rome’s seven hills, served as the residential quarter for Rome’s elite and the emperors. Walking through its ancient gardens and palaces, visitors can see the remnants of lavish homes and learn about the grandeur of imperial Rome. From the top of Palatine Hill, guests enjoy breathtaking views over the Roman Forum and the city of Rome, providing a perfect culmination to the historical journey offered by this tour.
Meeting at Piazza del Colosseo, 21, participants are advised to arrive approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. At the location, guests will present their smartphone voucher to the tour staff at a green kiosk, situated to the right as one exits the Colosseo metro station. A valid ID is essential for entry. Following verification, the guide will lead the group to the Colosseum for the start of the tour.

Francesca was a wonderful guide! Knowledgeable, attentive and charming in equal measure. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Colosseum with her and although we visited with a wheelchair, she made sure we felt included at every step.
