The tapestry “El Gran Masturbador” by Salvador Dalí is the centerpiece of the exhibition “Salvador Dalí – Between Art and Myth” at the Historical Infantry Museum in Rome and has been chosen as the cover image of the exhibition. Produced in 1985 in a limited edition of 500 certified pieces, this tapestry reproduces the famous 1929 surrealist painting displayed at the Museo Nacional
Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. The artwork depicts an anthropomorphic figure inspired by the rocks of Cap de Creus, from which a nude
woman with closed eyes emerges, symbolizing desire and sensuality. Elements such as the cricket and
ants recall recurring themes in Dalí’s art, associated with anxiety, decay, and the conflict between desire and fear.
