Also part of the exhibition are several structures that are part of the Vatican Palaces. From the Raphael Rooms to the Sistine Chapel.

The Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s vault

The queen of the exhibition route and one of the most fascinating monuments is undoubtedly the Sistine Chapel.  Built between 1475 and 1481 AD, the Sistine Chapel was commissioned by Pope Sixtus IV and was built on the walls of the Cappella Magna.

The Sistine Chapel is particularly important and appreciated because of the masterpieces it contains. On the side walls are splendid frescoes by Perugino, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio and Michelangelo Buonarroti (Last Judgement), while the vault, frescoed by Michelangelo himself, is considered one of the most important works ever created in the world.

N.B. It is strictly forbidden to take photos or videos in the Sistine Chapel.
